Basketball Preview: Upper Merion Area Vikings vs. Interboro Buccaneers
Upper Merion Area is 3-0 against the Buccaneers since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Upper Merion Area Vikings will head out on the road to square off against the Interboro Buccaneers at 6:00 p.m. Neither Upper Merion Area nor the Buccaneers posted many points in their last games, so it might be the defenses that decide this one.
Last Saturday, things could have been worse for Upper Merion Area, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 38-22 loss to the Magic.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Devon Maiden, who scored nine points along with four steals. That was a full 40.9% of Upper Merion Area's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Kokenberger, who scored six points.
Meanwhile, Interboro's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They took a serious blow against East, falling 41-12. While losing is never fun, Interboro can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 616th, while the Vikings are ranked 67th).
Upper Merion Area's loss dropped their record down to 12-9. As for Interboro, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-16.
Upper Merion Area beat the Buccaneers 35-23 in their previous matchup back in January of 2017. The rematch might be a little tougher for Upper Merion Area since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
