Basketball Recap: Avenal Takes a Loss

Avenal was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They took a blow against the Mendota Aztecs, falling 60-11. While losing is never fun, the Buccaneers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1153rd, while the Aztecs are ranked 323rd).

Avenal's defeat dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Mendota, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season.

Avenal will face off against Tranquillity at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Avenal is facing Tranquillity at the right time seeing as Tranquillity is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Mendota, they will challenge Firebaugh at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
