Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wilcox County). They put the hurt on the Montgomery County Eagles with a sharp 19-0 win on Tuesday. With that victory, the Patriots brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.

Jake Howell made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance gave him a new career-low in hits. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base. He also put up an RBI, which was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Deacon Harper was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with six RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024. Deacon McDuffie was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.

Wilcox County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .583. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matches.

Wilcox County's record now sits at 2-3. As for Montgomery County, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wilcox County will head out to challenge Bleckley County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Wilcox County's pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so Bleckley County's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Montgomery County, they will venture away from home to take on Wilcox County at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
