Softball Game Preview: West Plains Zizzers vs. Poplar Bluff Mules

The West Plains Zizzers will face off against the Poplar Bluff Mules at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: West Plains has struggled recently with seven defeats in a row, while Poplar Bluff will arrive with three straight wins.

West Plains fell victim to Marshfield and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 10-0 to the Bluejays.

Meanwhile, Poplar Bluff never let their opponents score on Thursday. They blew past Central 10-0.

Lillie Johnson made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. Johnson was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Molly Eason, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three stolen bases, and four RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in October of 2024. Another player making a difference was Maddie Allbritton, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Poplar Bluff hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 2-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

The victory got Poplar Bluff back to even at 3-3. As for West Plains, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.
