Baseball Recap: Gardiner Triumphs

Gardiner won the last time they faced Oceanside and things went their way on Thursday too. The Tigers walked away with a 6-1 victory over the Mariners.

Joseph Goraj spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Peter Gove, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Liam Verhille, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.

Gardiner's win bumped their record up to 6-10. As for Oceanside, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-8.

Looking ahead, Gardiner will challenge Erskine Academy at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Oceanside, they will host Lincoln Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
