Baseball Recap: Walker Wolfe Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Madison

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Mount Abram ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Madison Bulldogs by a score of 6-3 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The Roadrunners haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

Killian Pillsbury made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four). He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Mount Abram's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-8 when he doesn't).

Pillsbury wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Walker Wolfe, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that Wolfe has hit this season.

Mount Abram's record is now 7-8. As for Madison, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-12.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mount Abram will welcome Lisbon at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Madison, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Oak Hill at 4:00 p.m. The Raiders have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.83 runs per game on average), something the Bulldogs will no doubt try to take advantage of.
