Baseball Game Preview: Monroe Golden Tornadoes vs. Sherwood Christian Academy Eagles

The Monroe Golden Tornadoes will challenge the Sherwood Christian Academy Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Monroe is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.4 runs per game this season.

Monroe took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They never let Macon County get on the board and left with an 18-0 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Golden Tornadoes considering their one-run performance the game before.

Javion Tinch was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing six bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. He has become a key player for Monroe: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 1-2 otherwise.

In other batting news, Monroe got a massive performance out of Isaiah Royal, who scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Those four stolen bases gave Royal a new career-high. Bradyn Chamberlain was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while going 1-for-1.

Monroe always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .917. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Sherwood Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 16th straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 16-0 to Terrell Academy.

Monroe now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Sherwood Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
