Baseball Recap: Rantoul Comes Up Short

Rantoul was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell 8-4 to the Tolono Unity Rockets. The Eagles were not able to make up for their defeat to the Rockets from their previous meeting back in April of 2025.

Rantoul got a good showing from Spencer Stockwill, who didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Stockwill also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Eagles are 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 10-11 otherwise.

At the plate, Levi Duitsman was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Rantoul's loss dropped their record down to 13-12. As for Tolono Unity, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-3-1 record this season.

Rantoul will head out on the road to challenge Lincoln at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Tolono Unity, they will host Casey-Westfield at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The last three games the Warriors have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
