Softball Recap: Columbia Takes a Loss

Drew Charter hit Columbia with a five-run second inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Eagles fell just short of Drew Charter by a score of 11-10. The Eagles haven't had much luck with Drew Charter recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Willesha Wilson stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Parker-Hailey Thomas, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Columbia's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Drew Charter, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-8 record.

Looking ahead, Columbia will be playing at home against South Atlanta at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Hornets have averaged an impressive 19.5 runs per game this season. Drew Charter does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
