Softball Recap: Southern/Diller-Odell Takes a Loss

After flying high against Falls City on Saturday, Southern/Diller-Odell came back down to earth. Southern/Diller-Odell took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Syracuse Rockets on Saturday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Southern/Diller-Odell of the 6-3 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

Reegan Lauby was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Maddie Rosebaugh and Mya Frase did some serious damage despite the final result: Rosebaugh got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run, while Frase went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one double. That stolen base was Rosebaugh's first of the season.

Southern/Diller-Odell now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Syracuse, their win bumped their record up to 3-9.

While Southern/Diller-Odell had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
