Football Recap: Western Harnett Falls to J.F. Webb in First Game of Season

Western Harnett unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They came up short against the J.F. Webb Warriors on Friday, falling 46-22. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it 11 in a row.

Western Harnett's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Creig Matthews, who rushed for 61 yards and one TD, and also picked up 58 receiving yards and one score. The Eagles also got help from A.J. Manning, who showed off his sure hands for 122 receiving yards.

Western Harnett wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 29-22 win against Douglas Byrd on the 28th. As for J.F. Webb, they will challenge Warren County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
