Basketball Recap: Lompoc Braves vs. Santa Ynez Pirates
Lompoc lost against Santa Ynez back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Lompoc Braves received a blow as they fell 48-30 to the Santa Ynez Pirates. The Braves just can't catch a break and have now endured four defeats in a row.
Grace Baird and Halee Sager certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Baird posted six points and five rebounds, while Sager earned 11 points. Baird is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for four straight games.
Helina Pecile continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Santa Ynez, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 18 boards. What's more, Pecile also racked up eight steals, the most she's had since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Lexi Molera, who put up 12 points.
Lompoc now has a losing record at 12-13. As for Santa Ynez, their win bumped their record up to 13-9.
Lompoc will look to defend their home court on Friday against Templeton at 6:30 p.m. Lompoc is facing Templeton at the right time seeing as Templeton is stuck on an eight-game losing streak. Santa Ynez has already played their next contest (against Paso Robles), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
