After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Holy Innocents Episcopal, Therrell was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Washington Bulldogs with a sharp 16-1 victory. Considering the Panthers have won six games by more than 11 runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Jaylen Dumas looked comfortable as he struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high.
At the plate, Terrance Jackson was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Christian Goza, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Therrell was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Washington only posted a batting average of .100.
Therrell pushed their record up to 9-8 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Washington, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.
Therrell will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bulldogs: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
