The Grapevine Faith Christian Lions will challenge the Lake Country Christian Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Grapevine Faith Christian's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.
On Friday, everything came up roses for Grapevine Faith Christian against Atlas HomeSchool as the squad secured a 69-35 victory. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 449th, while the Rattlers are ranked 1000th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Grapevine Faith Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Austin Cosby, who threw for 180 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 76.2% of his passes, and also punched in one TD on the ground. The Lions' leading receiver Noah Smith was Cosby's top target yet again, picking up 108 receiving yards and one score, while also punching in one rushing score.

Grapevine Faith Christian's defensive line stepped up as well, laying out Timmy Thames five times. The heavy lifting was done by Corbin Irwin and Jude Seales, who racked up four sacks between them. Irwin is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made seven or more in each of the last five games he's played dating back to last season. Jackson Walker was another major factor on D, making nine total tackles and snagged an interception which he returned one-yard for a touchdown.
Special teams played a big role in the game for Grapevine Faith Christian, adding 21 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Smith, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Lake Country Christian fell victim to New Boston and their airtight defense on Friday. They were beaten by the Lions 49-0. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Lake Country Christian's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Grapevine Faith Christian, their win bumped their record up to 3-0.
Grapevine Faith Christian couldn't quite get it done against Lake Country Christian when the teams last played back in October of 2024 as they fell 28-21.
