Basketball Recap: Vincent Memorial's Loss Ends 11-Game Winning Streak at Home

Vincent Memorial entered their game against Imperial on Thursday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Vincent Memorial Scots took a hard 47-31 fall against the Imperial Tigers. While losing is never fun, the Scots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 328th, while the Tigers are ranked 149th).

Vincent Memorial's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dafne Borunda, who posted eight points and five steals. Borunda is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Paola Longoria, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds.

Imperial's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Valeria Rubio, who earned nine points. The dominant performance gave Rubio a new career-high in points. Trinyti Herndon was another key player, putting up seven points.

Vincent Memorial's loss ended an 11-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 12-5. As for Imperial, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-4.

Vincent Memorial has already played their next match, a 44-36 win against Palo Verde Valley on the 21st. As for Imperial, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 49-47 victory against Oceanside on the 18th.
