Basketball Recap: Orestimba Wins Going Away Against Argonaut

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Riverbank, Orestimba was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They strolled past the Argonaut Mustangs with points to spare, taking the game 51-37. The Warriors have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Mustangs, too.

Despite the defeat, Argonaut saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Alayna Critchfield dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds. Critchfield is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: she's pulled down at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Tailey Gascon, who posted 11 points.

Orestimba has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. As for Argonaut, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-6.

Orestimba will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Sonora at 5:30 p.m. on January 10, 2025. Argonaut and Ponderosa will round out the year against one another at at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
