Baseball Recap: Heritage Takes a Loss

Thursday just wasn't the day for Heritage's offense. They fell just short of the Shaw Raiders by a score of 1-0 on Thursday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Hawks of the 9-8 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2025.

Thomas Strickland was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in March.

At the plate, Heritage saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Andrew Arant, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

Heritage's loss dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Shaw, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-12 record this season.

Heritage will be playing in front of their home fans against Holy Spirit Prep at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Hawks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cougars have averaged an impressive 7.9 runs per game this season. As for Shaw, they will head out on the road to face off against Jordan at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Raiders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Red Jackets have averaged an impressive 8 runs per game this season.
