Football Recap: RJ Fleets and Kenneth Saiz Pace Bernalillo Defense + How To Watch

Despite a strong season so far, Bernalillo has seen their luck take a bit of a downturn recently. They lost to the Grants Pirates on the road by a 32-14 margin on Friday. While the Spartans didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Pirates 14-7 in the first quarter.

Bernalillo didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of RJ Fleets and Kenneth Saiz.

Grants found their leader in freshman Julian Fernandez, who rushed for 155 yards and four touchdowns. Those 155 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for Fernandez. Isaiah Ortega did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 84 receiving yards.

Bernalillo's defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Grants, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-3.

Bernalillo wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 21-7 loss against Taos on the 31st. As for Grants, they have also already played their next game, a 51-0 defeat against Bloomfield on the 31st.
