Football Recap: Summer Creek Piles Up the Points Against Lamar + How To Watch

You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter and that's exactly how it played out for Summer Creek on Thursday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew the Lamar Texans out of the water with a 58-14 final score. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 28-7.

Noah Spinks had an outrageously good game as he threw for 286 yards and four touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes, and also punched in one rushing score. Another player making a difference was Holden Miller, who picked up 65 receiving yards and three scores.

Summer Creek didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Lamar to a completion percentage of just 31.8%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from three players: Anthony Thomas, Chaise Anderson, and Preston Singleton, who each logged one passes deflected. Summer Creek wasn't nearly as limited: they posted one of 78.9%.

Lamar lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Cade Mansour, who threw for 149 yards and one TD. Larry Sanders handled things on the ground, rushing for 85 yards.

Summer Creek has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 47.5 points this season. As for Lamar, their record is now 0-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Summer Creek will square off against Spring at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lamar, they will challenge Clear Springs at 7:00 p.m. on the 12th.
