Basketball Game Preview: Newport Harbor Sailors vs. Edison Chargers

Newport Harbor is on an eight-game streak of home losses, Edison an 11-game streak of away losses dating back to last season, but someone's luck will change on Wednesday. The Newport Harbor Sailors will host the Edison Chargers at 7:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Newport Harbor is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Los Alamitos on Monday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Newport Harbor was outmatched by Los Alamitos and fell 62-17. The Sailors were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 32-6.

Meanwhile, Edison had to suffer through a 64-19 loss at the hands of Los Alamitos. While losing is never fun, the Chargers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 944th, while the Griffins are ranked 125th).

Newport Harbor's loss dropped their record down to 8-18. As for Edison, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-21.

Newport Harbor was able to grind out a solid win over Edison in their previous matchup on January 7th, winning 37-25. Will Newport Harbor repeat their success, or does Edison have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
