Softball Recap: Fremont Takes a Loss

Fremont came into this matchup off a tough 15-run loss on Thursday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Lincoln Southeast Knights by a score of 7-5 on Saturday. The Tigers' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it four in a row.

Megan Thomson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and four unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Morgan Sintek made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. Brooklyn Smithhisler also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Fremont's loss dropped their record down to 3-20. As for Lincoln Southeast, their victory ended an eight-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-20.

Fremont has already played their next contest, a 7-2 defeat against Elkhorn on the 27th. As for Lincoln Southeast, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, an 8-6 loss against Scottsbluff on the 27th.
