Soccer Recap: Mountain View Takes a Loss

If Mountain View was feeling good fresh off their 8-0 takedown of Compton on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Mountain View Vikings might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting the Savanna Rebels an easy 6-1 win. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 807th, while the Rebels are ranked 373rd).

Mountain View has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6-3 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 21 goals over those eight games. As for Savanna, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-3-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mountain View will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Gabrielino at 3:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025. As for Savanna, they will finish 2024 at home by hosting Segerstrom at 11:00 a.m. on December 30th.
