Basketball Recap: Moorpark Falls to Oaks Christian in First Game of Season

Moorpark had to start their season on the road on Monday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They took a blow against the Oaks Christian Lions, falling 69-25. The Musketeers were down 59-20 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Moorpark's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Carissa Smith, who posted eight points. Another player making a difference was Aubrey Buchanan, who scored eight points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Oaks Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Presley Kushner, who shot 43% from the field to rack up 24 points in addition to five assists and five boards. Andrea Woodward was another key player, going 6-for-12 en route to 16 points along with eight rebounds and seven assists.

Moorpark has already played their next matchup, a 51-50 defeat against Pacifica on the 18th. As for Oaks Christian, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 63-35 victory against Louisville on the 18th.
