Football Game Preview: Stanton County Trojans vs. Reno County HomeSchool Sabres

The Stanton County Trojans will take on the Reno County HomeSchool Sabres at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Stanton County will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any points on October 11th, then bounced right back against Kansas City East Christian Academy last Friday. The Trojans really took it to the Lions for the full four quarters, racking up a 60-20 victory. With the Trojans ahead 26-0 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Sean Hines continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 225 yards and four TDs while picking up 13.2 yards per carry. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 110 rushing yards per game. Arhim Gonzalez was another key back, rushing for 71 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only seven carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Stanton County was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 488 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Reno County HomeSchool put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Eureka 56-20. Given the Sabres' advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas football rankings (they are ranked 13th, while the Tornadoes are ranked 186th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Stanton County's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Reno County HomeSchool, their victory bumped their record up to 8-0.
