Skipstone Academy and Lafayette Christian are an even 3-3 against one another since April of 2021, but likely not for long. The Skipstone Academy Warriors will square off against the Lafayette Christian Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Skipstone Academy has given up an average of 11.3 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Skipstone Academy's offense. They came up short against Scholars Guild Academy on Thursday, falling 15-0. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Lafayette Christian had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They blew past the Wildcats 13-1. With that win, the Cougars brought their scoring average up to 6.7 runs per game.

Lafayette Christian got a massive performance out of Logan Childree, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Josiah Hughes, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-3.

Lafayette Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .629. The last time their OBP was this high was since the start of last season.

Lafayette Christian pushed their record up to 8-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.6 runs on average over those games. As for Skipstone Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Skipstone Academy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Lafayette Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.1 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

Skipstone Academy was able to grind out a solid win over Lafayette Christian in their previous matchup back in March of 2023, winning 8-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for Skipstone Academy since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
