Basketball Game Preview: Encinal Jets vs. Alameda Hornets

Encinal hasn't had much luck against Alameda recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Encinal Jets just played last yesterday, but they'll still welcome the Alameda Hornets at 3:30 p.m. Encinal will be strutting in after a win while Alameda will be coming in after a loss.

Encinal took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They took their match with ease, bagging a 52-21 victory over Hayward. Given the Jets' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 354th, while the Farmers are ranked 892nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Alameda entered their game against San Ramon Valley on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Alameda was beaten by San Ramon Valley 79-47. The Hornets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Alameda's defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 8-5. As for Encinal, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

Encinal might still be hurting after the 65-43 loss they got from Alameda in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can Encinal avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
