Softball Recap: Columbus Comes Up Short

Columbus extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping them down to 6-21. They came up short against the Lincoln Southwest Silver Hawks, falling 8-0. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Silver Hawks this season, with their most recent defeat being a 17-1 loss back in August.

As for Lincoln Southwest, their record now sits at 26-3. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 19 contests by six runs or more this season.

For Lincoln Southwest's part, Bryn Pribnow tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Pribnow has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Lincoln Southwest let Brenly Noerrlinger and Taylor Siefken run wild. Noerrlinger went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Siefken went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most stolen bases Siefken has posted over her last 14 matchups. Another player making a difference was Leyton Murphy, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Columbus wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 14-8 loss against Lincoln North Star on the 4th. As for Lincoln Southwest, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 12-0 win against Norfolk on the 4th.
