Basketball Recap: Calipatria Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Calipatria can now relate to. They were outmatched by the Patrick Henry Patriots and fell 72-11. The Hornets were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-7.

Patrick Henry got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kimora Nears out in front who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 13 boards. What's more, Nears also posted three steals, the most she's had since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ally Mangahis, who went 5-for-10 en route to 13 points along with seven rebounds and four steals.

Calipatria dropped their record down to 9-14 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Patrick Henry, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 20-6.

Calipatria does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Patrick Henry, they will square off against Escondido at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Patrick Henry has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
