Baseball Recap: Dunlap Eagles vs. Pleasant Plains Cardinals
It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Dunlap ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They won by a run and slipped past the Pleasant Plains Cardinals 3-2.
Truman Tyra was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, earning one run and two stolen bases. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Dunlap got a great performance from Tristan Pittenger as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. What's more, Pittenger posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April.
Tyra wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Pierce Placher, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. That's the most hits Placher has posted since back in April. Gavin Gibbs was another, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Dunlap's win bumped their record up to 27-7. As for Pleasant Plains, their loss dropped their record down to 23-12.
As of now, neither Dunlap nor the Cardinals have any future games scheduled.
