Softball Recap: Cor Jesu Academy Gets the Win

Cor Jesu Academy got themselves on the board against Lutheran South on Tuesday, but Lutheran South never followed suit. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Lancers 2-0. The Chargers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Lancers, too.

Not much got past Alice Vogel, who gave up just four hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Lutheran South off the board. Vogel has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Grace Rasmussen, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Aubrey Grimm also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Cor Jesu Academy has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Lutheran South, they now have a losing record of 7-8-1.

Cor Jesu Academy wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 19-1 victory against Mehlville on the 8th. Lutheran South has also already played their next game (against Parkway North), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
