Robertson was the 51-0 winner over Pojoaque Valley when they last played one another back in October of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Cardinals were just a hair shy of victory on Friday and fell 32-31 to the Elks/Elkettes. The defensive woes were uncharacteristic for the Cardinals, who until this matchup were averaging 9.86 points allowed.

Andres Sanchez and Nathan Gonzales certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Sanchez gained 148 total yards and two touchdowns, while Gonzales rushed for 89 yards and one touchdown. Speaking of playmakers, who could forget Elijah Ortiz, who went all the way with a kickoff return for a touchdown.

Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 13 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Ortiz, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Joshua Gonzales was his usual excellent self, rushing for 142 yards and a pair of scores on only 15 carries, while also throwing for 174 yards and two TDs on only 13 passes for Pojoaque Valley. The dominant performance also gave Gonzales a new career-high in passer rating (132.2). Joaquin Baca was Gonzales' top target, picking up 162 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.
