Softball Recap: Independence Comes Up Short

Independence lost a heartbreaker to Grinnell when they met back in June of 2024, and they left with a heavy heart again on Tuesday. The Mustangs fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 1-0. The defeat continues a trend for the Mustangs in their meetings with the Tigers: they've now lost three in a row.

Independence's loss dropped their record down to 9-22. As for Grinnell, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-5 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Grinnell beat Independence by a score of 5-3 later that day.
