Football Recap: Questa Falls Short Against Ranked Escalante

Questa faced Escalante in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Wildcats took a blow against the Lobos, falling 46-12. The defensive woes were uncharacteristic for the Wildcats, who until this game were averaging 14.4 points allowed.

Matt Vigil threw for 66 yards and one touchdown.

Braylon Emery had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 101 yards and a pair of scores on only seven carries for Escalante. Damien Baeza was in the mix too, providing the Lobos with two TDs.

Questa's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Escalante, their win was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-2.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Questa is set to face off against their familiar foe Fort Sumner/House at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Wildcats 14.4, Fort Sumner/House 3.5) so any points scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Escalante will challenge rival Cloudcroft at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
