Soccer Game Preview: Cherokee vs. Wheeler

Cherokee is preparing for their first region matchup of the season on Friday. They will host the Wheeler Wildcats at 8:00 p.m. Cherokee's last three matches have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Cherokee is headed in fresh off scoring the most goals they have all season. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Creekview 3-2. That's two games straight that the Warriors have won by just one goal.

Meanwhile, Wheeler was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 3-1 to Pebblebrook. The game was a 1-1 toss-up at halftime, but the Wildcats couldn't quite close it out.

Their goal came courtesy of Rafael Lima, which was the first he's scored this season.

Wheeler's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Cherokee, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

Cherokee suffered a grim 4-0 defeat to Wheeler in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can Cherokee avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
