Basketball Recap: North Star Cougars vs. Meyersdale Red Raiders
The North Star Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their 11th straight defeat. They fell to Meyersdale 37-33. The result was an unpleasant reminder to North Star of the 37-29 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture last Thursday.
Meyersdale got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Maci Moore out in front who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. Moore is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games she's played. Laurel Daniels was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with seven rebounds.
North Star dropped their record down to 3-17 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.5 points per game. As for Meyersdale, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 7-13 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. North Star will take on the Rockets at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Meyersdale, they will be playing at home against the Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
