Football Game Preview: Moriarty Pintos vs. Bloomfield Bobcats

Moriarty is 0-3 against Bloomfield since November of 2018 but things could change on Friday. The Pintos are taking a road trip to square off against the Bobcats at 6:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Moriarty is headed out in good spirits considering the team just ended their winless streak on the road against Aztec on Friday. The Pintos' defense stepped up to hand the Tigers a 50-0 shutout. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Pintos just coasted through the last quarter.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Moriarty to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mario Romero, who rushed for 176 yards and one score on only eight carries. Romero didn't just play on offense: he also picked up a sack and made 12 total tackles (2.0 for loss). Royce Dennisson was another key back, rushing for 90 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only six carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Moriarty was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 405 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 171 rushing yards in eight consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Bloomfield entered their tilt with Taos last Friday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 65-13 win over the Tigers. With the Bobcats ahead 59-13 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Bloomfield didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Cable Carruth, Miguel (Lito) Hutchens, Tayetum Callado, and Peyton Duncan picked up one apiece.

Moriarty now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Bloomfield, their record is now 5-1.

Moriarty was dealt a bruising 42-0 loss at the hands of Bloomfield in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Can the Pintos avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
