Baseball Game Preview: Woodward Academy War Eagles vs. Lakeside Vikings

For the second straight game, Woodward Academy will face off against Lakeside. The War Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Woodward Academy 3.4, Lakeside 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Woodward Academy is headed into the match having just posted their closest win since February 13th on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Lakeside, sneaking past 6-5.

Landon Walker was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Chance Dixon, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

With the defeat, Lakeside broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 14-7. As for Woodward Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 16-4.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Woodward Academy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Lakeside struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.9 strikeouts.
