Baseball Recap: Douglass Snaps 12-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Douglass). Everything went their way against the Cedar Grove Saints on Friday as the Douglass Astros made off with a 19-7 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 8-1 last Wednesday.

The team relied heavily on Jamarius Glover, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four stolen bases, four runs, and four RBI. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Anthony Alexander was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing Four bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Douglass kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Douglass' victory ended a 12-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-4. As for Cedar Grove, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Douglass will face off against North Clayton at 5:55 p.m. on Monday. Douglass is facing North Clayton at the right time seeing as North Clayton is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Cedar Grove, they will square off against Stone Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Cedar Grove has given up an average of 10.3 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
