Baker Mayfield named U.S. Air Force National Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 9.

Baker Mayfield has been named the U.S. Air Force National Player of the Week.
The junior quarterback from
Lake Travis (Austin, Texas) racked up an impressive six touchdown passes and 468 yards on a 27 of 37 night to lead the Cavaliers to a 62-35 drubbing of Aledo on Sept. 9. He rushed nine times for 32 yards as well.
It all came on a big stage: Aledo was ranked No. 20 in the nation earlier this year and about 9,000 fans attended the game.
Mayfield catapulted his team into the
MaxPreps Xcellent 25 National Football Rankings at No. 22 and already has 12 passing TDs with no interceptions this year to go with a .719 completion percentage and three rushing touchdowns. Lake Travis is a perfect 3-0 and has outscored its opponents by an average of 28 points in each game.
