Softball Game Preview: Montgomery County Wildcats vs. Van-Far Indians

The Montgomery County Wildcats will head out to take on the Van-Far Indians at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Montgomery County is coming into the game hot, having won their last six games.

Montgomery County is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Wellsville-Middletown on Tuesday as they made off with a 24-5 win. With that victory, the Wildcats brought their scoring average up to 7.6 runs per game.

Montgomery County got a massive performance out of Anna Klekamp, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Skylar Bethmann, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one double.

Montgomery County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .571. The last time their batting average was this high was back in October of 2024.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Van-Far's offense. They came up short against Silex on Tuesday, falling 9-0. The defeat continues a trend for the Indians in their meetings with the Owls: they've now lost seven in a row.

Van-Far's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Montgomery County, their win bumped their record up to 11-1.

Montgomery County took their victory against Van-Far in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 11-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
