Columbus and Kearney are an even 5-5 against one another since September of 2021, but likely not for long. The Discoverers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bearcats at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Columbus is coming into the game on a six-game losing streak.

Columbus got a massive performance out of Kyrstyn Long, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Hill, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Kearney faced Hastings in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Bearcats fell 11-8 to the Tigers. The defeat continues a trend for the Bearcats in their meetings with the Tigers: they've now lost nine in a row.

Alexa Jacobsen made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Kennedy Lee, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.

Columbus' loss dropped their record down to 5-18. As for Kearney, their defeat dropped their record down to 20-10.
