Soccer Recap: Dos Pueblos Comes Up Short

Dos Pueblos fell victim to Rio Mesa and their airtight defense on Monday. They fell just short of the Rio Mesa Spartans by a score of 1-0. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Chargers came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 274th, while the Spartans are ranked 703rd).

This is the second loss in a row for Dos Pueblos and nudges their season record down to 6-4-7. As for Rio Mesa, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-5-5 and their overall record up to 2-11-5.

Dos Pueblos will host San Marcos at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Rio Mesa, they will face off against Oxnard at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Rio Mesa's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.
