Harrisburg didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Messiah Mickens, Jeremy Beroa, and Noah Ewell picked up one apiece. Ewell has been hot for a while, having also posted five or more total tackles the last 25 times he's played. Mickens got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Central York won against Cedar Cliff two weeks ago with 42 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. The Panthers beat Wilson by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 42-7. The Panthers are also no stranger to big wins: their blowout was the ninth matchup they've won by 20+ points this season.
Harrisburg better keep an eye on Legend Johnson. He was instrumental in Central York's win, rushing for 172 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.8 yards per carry. That's the most rushing yards Johnson has posted since back in September. The team also got some help courtesy of Ali ?Deuce? Johnson Jr., who rushed for 58 yards and one score.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Central York proved: they limited Wilson to a paltry 2.6 yards per carry. The team can thank Josh Bahr for the heroic effort on defense: he. Central York didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 11.
Central York's defense didn't let Mason Young, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for six sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Cullen Gardner and Colin Gurley, who racked up 5.5 sacks between them. Dwayne Morgan got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Harrisburg's record now sits at 12-0. As for Central York, their record is now 11-1.
Harrisburg was able to grind out a solid victory over Central York in their previous meeting back in November of 2023, winning 28-21. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
