Recap: East Nicolaus Spartans vs. Durham Trojans
There's no place like home for the East Nicolaus Spartans, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Wednesday. They walked away with a 46-35 victory over Durham on Friday. That's another feather in the cap for East Nicolaus, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
East Nicolaus got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Rylee Gillespie out in front who dropped a triple-double on 14 points, ten assists, and ten steals. Gillespie is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Makinze Massey, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and six steals.
East Nicolaus has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season. As for Durham, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-10.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. East Nicolaus will face off against Colusa at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Colusa is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last 11 games. As for Durham, they will head out on the road to take on Willows at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Willows is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
