Basketball Game Preview: Amador Valley Dons vs. Monte Vista Mustangs

Amador Valley is 2-8 against Monte Vista since January of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Amador Valley Dons will host the Monte Vista Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Amador Valley is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Tuesday. They took a blow against Dublin, falling 73-29. The Dons were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-15.

Meanwhile, Monte Vista suffered their closest defeat since December 6, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of Dougherty Valley by a score of 51-48. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Amador Valley will have to keep a close watch on Naliyah Sefidi and Kennedy Whyte, a pair of players who had a big impact on Monte Vista's prior game. Sefidi went 8 for 18 on her way to 22 points, while Whyte dropped a double-double on 19 points and 14 rebounds. Whyte's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Juliette Leonard, who posted seven points and five boards.

Monte Vista's loss dropped their record down to 9-13. As for Amador Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-14.

Amador Valley came up short against Monte Vista in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, falling 50-42. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Sefidi, who went 8 of 17 en route to 20 points and eight steals.
