Basketball Recap: Monterey Trail's Victory on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Ten

Monterey Trail had already won nine in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.6 points) and they went ahead and made it ten on Monday. They were the clear victor by a 66-43 margin over the Laguna Creek Cardinals. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 23 points or more this season.

Leading Monterey Trail to victory were Alia Wilson and Dalis Blackshire. Wilson went 6-for-10 on her way to 17 points and four steals, while Blackshire went 6-for-11 en route to 16 points. Wilson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 22 games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Sydney Wilson, who posted six points along with six rebounds and three steals.

When it comes to explaining why Laguna Creek lost, don't look at Avaya Warner. Despite the final result, she had six points in addition to 11 boards and eight steals. Another player making a difference was Jestine Tofi, who put up nine points and seven rebounds.

Monterey Trail's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-5. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 26.2 points. As for Laguna Creek, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-9.
