Shady Spring's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They put the hurt on Capital with a sharp 10-0 win.
The team relied heavily on Tyler Wilhite, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Spencer Morgan, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, PikeView made easy work of Nicholas County on Monday and carried off a 10-3 victory.
Eli Hilling made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with three RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Landon Wyatt was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times he's played. Christian Walters was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs.
Shady Spring's win bumped their record up to 24-6. As for PikeView, their victory bumped their record up to 23-9.
Shady Spring got the 'W' when the teams last played two weeks ago against PikeView by a conclusive 11-1 score. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
