Basketball Recap: Loara Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Magnolia typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Loara proved too difficult a challenge. They walked away with a 56-48 victory over the Magnolia Sentinels. The win was some much needed relief for the Saxons as it spelled an end to their seven-game losing streak.

Loara's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sophia Rangel led the charge by dropping a double-double on 27 points and 12 rebounds. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Rangel has scored at least a third of Loara's points. Another player making a difference was Angela Ngo, who posted five points in addition to ten boards and six assists.

Loara was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in November of 2024.

Magnolia's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Elysia Dellia, who earned 12 points. Amariis Keoma-Heng was another key player, putting up ten points.

Loara's record now sits at 7-13. As for Magnolia, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Loara has already played their next match (against Estancia), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Magnolia will venture away from home to face off against Savanna at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Magnolia has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
