Volleyball Recap: Gardner-Edgerton Trailblazers vs. Olathe Northwest Ravens
Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Gardner-Edgerton couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They fell 2-0 to the Olathe Northwest Ravens on Saturday. The Trailblazers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Ravens earlier this season, when they won 3-1.
While Gardner-Edgerton was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-23.
Hayden Meats paced Gardner-Edgerton's offense, picking up 12 kills. Meats got some help from Emma Arel and her 11 assists.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Olathe Northwest to victory, but perhaps none more so than Amaya Jimenez, who had 16 digs and one assist. That's the most digs Jimenez has posted over her last 11 matchups. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Parker, who had 15 assists and four digs.
Gardner-Edgerton's defeat ended a five-match streak of away wins and brought them to 26-11. As for Olathe Northwest, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That somehow still isn't as good as their 28-9 record this season.
Gardner-Edgerton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Olathe Northwest, they will take on Blue Valley West at 11:00 a.m. on Friday.
