Softball Game Preview: St. Anne-Pacelli Vikings vs. Strong Rock Christian Patriots

The St. Anne-Pacelli Vikings will face off against the Strong Rock Christian Patriots at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. St. Anne-Pacelli is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.

St. Anne-Pacelli took a loss when they played away from home last Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Columbus a 9-0 shutout. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by nine runs or more this season.

Bella Mcbride was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI.

In other batting news, Leah Jimenez was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Madison Green, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

St. Anne-Pacelli kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 2-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Meanwhile, Strong Rock Christian had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Knights, sneaking past 5-3.

Strong Rock Christian's victory bumped their record up to 13-4. As for St. Anne-Pacelli, their win bumped their record up to 8-9.
